Growing a new startup in the established startup scene is tough. However, you must realise that you are never alone. Successful entrepreneurs like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Jack Ma has been in your position! They have passed through a myriad of rejections, challenges and difficulties before achieving success. But they were not alone! They had mentors.

You might have great talents working for your startup, but on this journey to achieve success, you are bound to meet challenges and at times, doubts. To bring your startup to greater heights, you will need mentors that know how to reach that height.

But not every mentor you meet is right for your startup. Therefore, when you are on the hunt for suitable mentors, there are a few things to keep in mind to gain suitable mentors who can help with your startup growth.

They must be serial entrepreneurs where they have good track records in helping to build successful startups. Also, it is ideal to look for mentors that are within the same industry or closely related industry to your startup.

Not every successful entrepreneur can relate their past experiences and share their insights effectively. As such, they will not be able to provide you with remedies that your startup needs. You should seek for those who listens to your issues, understand them and are passionate about helping you to solve the problems through reflections of the journeys they had taken over the years.

3. Seek For Experts

You want a mentor that is able to help you solve the specific problems or guide you into the right direction and not a mentor that perhaps had some experience dealing with the same issues before but yet not having the expertise in that area. You should list the issues you need help with and search for those who are specialised in that particular area for their advice.

Finding mentors is a great way to help grow your startup. Keep in mind that mentors are there to help or guide you in tackling specific issues and giving you advice to help bring your startup to the next level. They are not there to validate the ideas you have.
