ASEANHR Tech Venture Summit 2018 has successfully served its purpose last October 18 and 19 at the Shangri-La at the Fort, BGC, Manila, Philippines.
Gracing the event are Business Leaders, Entrepreneurs and HR Decision Makers. Along with a fresh set of speakers that has never appeared in any conference in the same format.
The two-day event was filled with new learnings from the respective speakers, tackling different topics in regards with the developing world of HR and how technology is helping shape the future of how people work.
A lot of new ideas were shared as the event included panel discussion- with each panelist sharing their insights on different topic tracks relevant to the event, namely; Technology, Legal, Merger and Acquisition and Venture Business, and Corporate Branding.
Opening the event is Johan Janssens, Co-founder of Timble and Joomla, with a keynote, “Industry 4.0: Business Leaders.” And followed by a welcoming keynote from Assistant Secretary Atty. Marie Rafael and Secretary Martin Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office of the Philippines (PCOO).
After a very heart-warming welcoming speech from the respective secretaries, the event was then formally opened.
Starting with the HR Track, Philippa Penfold of Peoplewave and Patrick Gentry of Sprout Solutions shared their insights regarding The State of Human Resource in ASEAN Region. Followed by a panel discussion moderated by Valentina Incognito of KMC Solutions.
Jamie Getgood of Getgood Consulting shared a case study on, “Enhancing the Change Experience through the Closure of an Industry.” Followed by Eleana Choy of Thome Group of Companies, with a topic on, “Cultivating a high-performance organization and creating meaningful performance assessment framework.”
Contributing his knowledge, Eric Riego de Dios of Baker Mackenzie, talked about, “Agile Learning for the Future of Work.” Marvin Rodriguez of East West Seed on the other hand shared his knowledge on, “Challenges of Integration of Regional Teams”. Joining the panel as well was Robin Bradshaw of Cathay Pacific.
Welcoming the third panel for the HR Track is Secretary Raul Lambino of Cagayan Special Economic Zone, who talked about the Global Investment Opportunities in CEZA.
Covering, “Adaptive Behavioral Change in Agile HR,” the third panel is joined by Ruben Chaumont of Intentional Work Communities, Inc., who shared his thoughts with the topic on, “From Traditional to Agile: Building a Company Culture that Fuels Employees’ Engagement and Sense of Ownership.” Along with Jaspreet Kakar of AXA Philippines who had a talk on, “Implementing Agile HR from the Traditional”. Mun Choong Lam of SelfDrvn and Sudheer Nohu of Excelity also joined the panel, along with Philippa Penfold who served as the Moderator for the panel.
Moving on to the Legal Track, Hon. Dakila Carlo Cua, House Representative and Co-Author of TRAIN Law formally opened the track with a topic on, “Economic Anatomy of TRAIN Law.” Joining him in the panel are Atty. Karla Denise Frias, Atty. Rhondee Dumlao and Atty. Kristine Alcantra tackling the topic on the Impact of TRAIN Law to SMES and National Economy and moderated by Lorelie “Relly” Fajardo, Board Director of PAG-IBIG Fund and Co-convener of TRAIN Law.
The Venture Track was formally opened by Antoine Blanc of Index-Asia Philippines, who shared his insights with a topic on, “Building Strategic Corporate Investments by Venture Partnerships.” Followed by the Director People & Culture of Philip Morris International, Pierre Monserrate who shared an overview of the current state of investments in the ASEAN and the Philippines.
Covering topics on, “The State of Investments in the ASEAN and the Philippines” and “Avoiding Errors of a Merger” joining Pierre Monserrate for the fifth set of panelists are Rosie Keller of Seedstar Asia, Mark Vernon of Tagcash, and Edison Tsai of SeedIn Philippines and was moderated by Maria Jesusa “Jayjay” Viray of Grocercoin.
Welcoming the afternoon session, Andrei Palamariu, Director of Harper and Hill, gave a short speech and discussed a topic on, “Recruiters, still relevant?”
Proceeding to the Tech track, Sharon Lee of HREasily talked about the State of HR Technology in the ASEAN. Which was followed by Frank Angotti with a topic on, “Using Technology to Mitigate Internal HR Risks Today.”
Discussing the topic on the State of ASEAN HR Technology vs Global Trends, the sixth set of panelists includes Sharon Lee, Phil Wheatley of Synchrony Global Philippines, and Peter Cauton of STORM and STORM Learning and was once again moderated by Philippa Penfold.
Sharing his insight on Artificial Intelligence, David Foote of Zennya talked about “How Artificial Intelegence Solve Recruitment Retention and Performances Assessment in Technical Terms. Followed by Vaclav Koranda of T-Systems Malaysia with a topic about, “Using AI to Determine the Hiring Pool Based on the Current Talant Make Up.
Ending the first day of the event is a panel discussion regarding, “Reshaping Talent Management for the Next Ten (10) Years. Moderated by Judith Balea of Tech in Asia, the panel includes Vaclav Koranda, David Foote, Philip Gioca of JobStreet.com Philippines Inc., Paige Tribdino of Kalibrr and Christian Blanquera Of Jobayan.
The first day of the event ended well, with attendees gaining new knowledge on different fields and getting to know the environment of the big corporations with booths set-up outside the conference area.
Gearing towards the final day of the ASEAN HR Tech Venture Summit 2018 Manila, Radu Palamariu of Morgan Philips opened the event with so much enthusiast that brings excitement to the audience and his co-speakers for the day.
Mr. Palamariu then presented a Case Study on, “Decisions in Hiring Process, How to and How not to Recruit Top Talent. Followed by Morena Carla Cabrera of Creatio7 Asia Inc. presented a topic on, “HR Transformation for Corporate Branding and Employer Branding: From CEO-down.”
To end the event, Radu Palamariu, Morena Carla Cabrera, Jamie Getgood and Vaclav Koranda took the stage.
Aside from wonderful insights from the respective speakers, there were also Raffle Prizes from Turkish Airlines, ISkin, Best Western Plus, Air Juan, Anya Resort, Punta Fuego and ARIVA.
